Kelly, how do you avoid helping or giving so much that it depletes you? example: someone in the meditation class needed a blanket so you give then yours for good karma, but now your ass is on the floor with no blanket and you can’t meditate. this is obviously a very trivial example but sometimes people that you want to help are like vampires and you find yourself giving so much that it literally becomes unhealthy.

We would say “Seek the true cause”.
Aside from that, one’s motivation always tries to ground itself in bodhichitta, in other words, what is best for others. This is always a good way to determine if our actions are selfish or selfless.
